One to one sessions with a client and therapist that helps the client address barriers that prevent the client from moving forward in their life. The advantage to individual counseling is the time is purely focused on the you which allows you the opportunity to be completely open in a non-judgmental environment. Individual counseling gives you the opportunity to leave behind the many pressures and chaos in your life and truly relax in an environment that is all about you.

Dual Couples Counseling
Sankofa Love is the recognition that two people bring their individual journeys together. The recognition thats within the relationship there are different journeys happening on multiple levels. There’s a journey with self, the individual where the person is moving backwards and forwards within their own life to understand the present. Then there’s the journey as a couple where the individual journeys are brought together to create a new relationship journey. Sankofa Love also acknowledges that our journeys include a navigation through various types of traumas and triggers. Sankofa Love acknowledges the importance of all three journeys and the many challenges that arise as the couple struggles to adjust to each other’s journeys. Dual couples counseling represents that balance of male and female energy and the need for both to be present in the session for balance and connection.
We will help you define your relationship based on your journeying together. You will grow to cultivate friendship as the foundation of your relationship. You will learn how to hold space for each other’s journeys so that it feels safe to be vulnerable within the relationship. Learning how to share yourself with your partner takes learning how to be vulnerable and transparent with yourself and then with your partner. It’s a process and a journey that requires commitment to the journey and an honoring and trust of the freedom of your partner to do their individual work. We are here as a couple to provide space, direction and examples of how to define and walk this journey together as a couple.

Group Counseling
Counseling in a setting with 8 or more people and at least one counselor with a focus on addressing a specific or singular challenge shared by the group. The advantage to group counseling is having a shared experience with other group members that decreases the feeling of isolation within your own challenge. You will have the opportunity gain the view point of others in a safe environment as each group member shares both their challenges and successes.

Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Assessment
A Department of Transportation (DOT) Return to Duty process which includes an evaluation by a DOT qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), completing treatment and/or education plan and a follow up evaluation. Only a DOT qualified SAP can give approval that the DOT employee has met all of the requirements to return to duty by giving the employer a final summary with a return to duty drug testing schedule.
